LGA renews calls for ability to hold remote meetings
2023
The Local Government Association (the LGA) have renewed their call for the ability for councils to hold remote meetings. This follows the Government signalling that it intends to scrap a proposed amendment to the Levelling Up & Regeneration Bill allowing them in all cases.
The LGA says that it is "disappointed" that the Government is seeking to overturn the proposed amendment.
An LGA member survey revealed that there is overwhelming (95%) support for the ability to host remote meetings. Importantly, no council that responded to the consultation suggested that they were looking at going fully or exclusively virtual.
